Glenn Widom and Family to be Honored at 2011 Evening of Hope by Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America

On November 18th at 7 p.m., The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America will host its annual “An Evening of Hope” gala. The event, chaired by Susan Gringauz and Craig Konhauzer, will be held at the Hollywood Beach Marriott, 2501 N. Ocean Drive.

The casino-themed event will raise funds for research and services including summer camps, support groups, and educational programs for children and adults affected by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Guests can mix and mingle with CCFA supporters while enjoying a cocktail reception, lavish cuisines donated and prepared by local restaurants such as Anthony’s Runway 84, Egg Whites Catering, The International Culinary School at the Fort Lauderdale Art Institute, and Latitudes. Entertainment will include casino tables where attendees can try their luck at winning prizes. Guests will also enjoy a Vegas-style dinner and a live auction featuring trips to the Caribbean, jewelry and more.

During the evening, the Hope Award will be given to Mitchell and Alicia Widom and Glenn and Ellen Widom. Both families, who have been personally impacted by Crohn’s disease, have been instrumental in raising money and educating the public regarding the disease.

During the event, CCFA will also be raising funds for the Widom Family Research Scholar Award, which is a three-year study of the immune system and bowel disease. The study is being conducted at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. CCFA has named the award after the Widom Family for their tremendous dedication to help find a cure.

Today more than 1.4 million people, ten percent of whom are children under the age of 18, suffer from the physical and emotional challenges of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The mission of CCFA is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. CCFA is a national nonprofit voluntary health organization dedicated to the fight against Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Tickets for the event are $250 per person. Sponsorship opportunities range from $1,000 to $25,000. For more information, call Michelle Klein at 561-218-2929 or email mklein@ccfa.org.
